Our Story
We have been helping pets and their families in the greater Triangle area and beyond since 2011.
Our Story
Gentle Journey is the new name for an established team of doctors and care coordinators. Gentle Journey provides in-home veterinary hospice and palliative care consultations, quality-of-life assessments, and euthanasia care to families and their pets. We serve Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and all the surrounding neighborhoods in the Triangle and beyond.
We are here to help you navigate the end-of-life journey. We understand the profound and cherished bond between families and their beloved friends and that navigating the end-of-life journey can be a challenging and emotional time. Our goal is to provide a peaceful experience for you and your beloved pet in the comfort of your home or any other favorite place.
Our Story
Originally founded in 2011, our trusted team of dedicated doctors and care coordinators has walked alongside families through some of the most tender moments in their pets’ lives,
supporting families with compassionate end-of-life care for their pets for over a decade. So when Gentle Journey began in 2023, our mission-and the hearts behind it-remained the same. We continue to offer gentle in-home veterinary hospice and palliative care, consultations, quality-of-life assessments, and peaceful euthanasia services for families throughout Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, the surrounding Triangle communities, and beyond.
Our mission is to provide families and their pets with the utmost care and support during this difficult transition. We want to honor the bond you have with your pet with compassion, grace, and dignity. Every being deserves a comfortable end.
Gentle Journey’s doctors work to accommodate families as needed. The doctors help families seven days a week between 9 AM and 5 PM. Urgent appointments may be available outside these hours. Evenings and weekends have additional fees.
Our Care Coordinators were chosen for their compassion and empathy. Each team member loves animals just as much as you. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated staff helping you and our doctors every day! They will answer your calls from 7 AM until 7 PM Monday through Friday, and 9 AM until 3 PM Saturday and Sunday.
We encourage you to avoid a crisis situation by scheduling an appointment with us before you notice a decline in your pet’s health. However, pets sometimes take a turn for the worse unexpectedly, so same-day and next-day appointments are often possible with a few hours’ notice.
If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or use our Emergency Hospital Information page to locate an urgent veterinary facility.
We’re Here to Support You Every Step of the Way
Throughout this difficult time, we strive to create a supportive community for pet owners who are navigating the end-of-life journey. We will provide resources, guidance, and a compassionate ear to listen. You are not alone; we are here to support you every step of the way.
