Pet Hospice Consultations

Pet hospice consultations provide compassionate guidance and support for families facing end-of-life decisions for their beloved pets. These consultations offer expert advice, pain management, emotional assistance, and customized care plans, ensuring a peaceful and dignified journey for pets in their final moments.

In-Home Hospice and Palliative Care

For pet owners who have shifted their focus from seeking a cure to prioritizing comfort care for their beloved pet’s illness, pet hospice may be the compassionate choice. Hospice care begins with a visit from one of our loving veterinarians to determine if hospice is appropriate for you, your family, and your pet.

Why Choose Hospice Care?

Hospice is for patients seeking comfort care without a curative direction. If hospice is the next step for your pet, we will work with you to examine ways to identify, watch for, and manage potential pain.

Considering hospice and euthanasia for your pet is a heartbreaking decision, but you do not have to make it alone. We will support you through this entire journey with the love and grace that your pet deserves.

What Is Included in a Hospice Consultation?

  • One of our veterinarians will visit your home to perform a physical exam and review their current environment.
  • We will review any current medications and any modalities being utilized.
  • We will discuss current health issues and concerns.
  • Our veterinarian will perform a quality-of-life assessment with you.
  • A custom treatment plan for care and monitoring will be provided at the end of the consultation.

In-Home Veterinary Hospice and Palliative Care Consultation

Hospice and palliative care visits are designed to help provide comfort and increase quality-of-life for your pet, as well as guidance and clarity for you. Our hospice visits with a veterinarian include a physical examination of your pet and their environment, a review of the current medications and modalities being utilized, an evaluation of your pet’s current health problems, an assessment of your pet’s quality-of-life, and a custom treatment plan to help you care for your pet and monitor their condition. We have other professionals in the area to whom we can refer you for ancillary care such as rehabilitation services, therapeutic laser, PEMF therapy, photomodulation, acupuncture, massage, pet sitters, pet resorts with geriatric suites, technicians who can provide in-home care, and more.

Hospice appointments are usually our first appointment of the day, except on Fridays. We ask that you provide us with medical records from the past year from any veterinary services who have helped your pet and that you fill out an assessment form to help guide the appointment. Once we have those materials, we can schedule the appointment. If you do not think your pet is stable enough to wait for a hospice appointment, please visit your regular veterinarian or emergency service for supportive care until all family members you wish to be present can be there for euthanasia.
